I, LCDA. AYLEEN VAZQUEZ FIGUEROA, Secretary of the Chamber of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, CERTIFY that the House of Representatives, at its meeting Thursday, April 10 of the current year, at the request of Representative Honorable Rafael Hernandez Montañez, approved the motion 2872, which reads as follows:

MOTION

To give due recognition and congratulations to Alfredo Castellanos Bayouth, having been the first Hispanic to receive and be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Federal Bar Association.

Attorney Alfredo Castellanos Bayouth was recognized with the important distinction Lifetime Achievement Award, from the Federal Bar Association. For his outstanding record of volunteer service and commendable support to the students of law in  the United States. Castellanos became the first Puerto Rican and Hispanic American to receive this significant distinction.

The awarding ceremony took place during the annual celebration of Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition. , held in  Washington , D.C. Castellanos has participated seven times as an invited judge to this renowned competition of  law students and was also distinguished for his performance by Judge Andrew S. Effron, former presiding judge of the Court of Appeals for the United States Armed Forces (CAAF). Castellanos was also awarded a prize for his outstanding commitment and years of service in the Moot Court, by the Young Lawyers Division of the Federal Bar Association.

Both awards represent for the jurist a result of the many years of selfless, hard work and commitment to supporting the development of new talents which contribute to the improvement of the legal profession and justice system.

Mr. Alfredo Castellanos is founding member of the renowned firm Castellanos Group. His long trajectory of achievements and recognitions includes renowned litigation, like the case against Don King Productions which was held in the Federal District Court in New York, and also the complex litigation against the deceased King of Pop, Michael Jackson in California.

It should be mentioned that, as a past president of the Federal Bar Association (FBA), Puerto Rico Chapter, Castellanos has published innumerable articles  in the Law Journals of the FBA, the law association that accredits universities in the field of law in the United States, as well as in Puerto Rico and Canada.

In addition to his successful legal practice, Mr. Castellanos also serves as a political and radio commentator in Puerto Rico. Currently, he participates as a legal analyst for the radio station Noti Uno and often participates as a guest analyst on such television programs as “En Directo Con Rubén Sánchez” and “Tribunal Cristiano”, among others.

The House of Representatives recognizes it to be relevant and appropriate to recognize and extend the warmest congratulations for being the first Puerto Rican and Hispanic to receive and be honored with a Lifetime Award Achievement Award of the Federal Bar Association.

And in recognition whereof, extend, sign and seal the present document in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on this day, April 10, 2014.

Yo, LCDA. AYLEEN FIGUEROA VÁZQUEZ, Secretaria de la Cámara de Representantes del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico, CERTIFICO, que la Cámara de Representantes, en sesión celebrada el jueves, 10 de abril del año en curso, a petición del Representante, Honorable Rafael Hernandez Montañez, aprobó la Moción 2872, que lee como sigue:

Para brindar un merecido reconocimiento y felicitación al Licenciado Alfredo Castellanos Bayouth, por haber sido el primer hispano en recibir y ser honrado con el premio Lifetime Achievement Award. del Federal Bar Association.

El licenciado Alfredo Castellanos Bayouth fue reconocido con el importante galardón Lifetime Achievement Award, del Federal Bar Association, por su destacada trayectoria de servicio voluntario y encomiable apoyo a los estudiantes de derecho de los Estados Unidos. Castellanos se convierte en el primer puertorriqueño e hispanoamericano en recibir esta significativa distinción.

La actividad para galardonar le transcurrió durante la celebración anual de Thurgood Marshall A. Memorial Moot Court Competition, celebrada en la ciudad de Washington, D.C. El letrado ha participado en siete ocasiones como juez invitado a esta renombrada competencia de estudiantes de derecho y fue distinguido por su desempeño junto al juez Andrew S. Effron, ex juez presidente de la Corte de Apelaciones de Estados Unidos para la Fuerzas Armadas (CAAF). Al abogado también se le otorgó un premio por su compromiso excepcional y años de servicio en el Moot Court, otorgado por la División de Abogados jóvenes del Federal Bar Association.

Ambos reconocimientos representan para el jurista el fruto de muchos años de trabajo arduo, desinteresado y comprometido en apoyo al desarrollo de nuevos talentos que contribuyan al mejoramiento de la profesión del derecho y del sistema de justicia.

El Licenciado Alfredo Castellanos es fundador y socio de la reconocido firma de abogados Castellanos Group. Su larga trayectoria de logros y reconocimientos incluyen renombrados pleitos como el caso en contra Producciones Don King el cual se llevará a cabo en la Corte Federal del Distrito de Nueva York, ademas de una ardua litigacion en contra del fenecido Rey del Pop, Michael Jackson en California.
Cabe mencionar que como pasado presidente de la Federal Bar Association (FBA), Capítulo de Puerto Rico, Castellanos también ha publicado un sin número de artículo para la Revista Jurídica de la FBA, asociación de derecho que acredita a las universidades en el campo de jurídico tanto en Estados Unidos, como en Puerto Rico y Canadá.

En adición a su exitosa práctica legal, el Licenciado Castellanos también se desempeña como comentarista político y radial en Puerto Rico. Actualmente participa como analista legal en la radioemisora Noti-Uno y con frecuencia también ofrece su análisis en programas como ‘En Directo Con Rubén Sánchez’ y en el ‘Tribunal Cristiano’. Por otra parte también modera en ‘Línea Directa con el Lcdo. Alfredo Castellanos’ todos los domingos.

Esta Cámara de Representantes entiende pertinente y apropiado el reconocer y extender la más calurosa de las felicitaciones por haber sido el primer puertorriqueño e hispano en recibir y ser honrado con el premio Lifetime Achievement Award, del Federal Bar Association.
