“It is not everyday one receives the acknowledgment as humble and truly gratifying as the letter I received below. Hannah Cottrill was a part of the winning team from St. Mary’s University School of Law in this year’s FBA Moot Court Competition.
I am truly grateful for this opportunity to support development of new talents which contribute to the improvement of the legal profession and justice system. I, too, am happy to have been a part of Hannah’s professional journey and hope that this victory was just one of many more successful endeavors to follow.”
Below is attached a copy of Hannah’s letter.
I want to Thank You for serving as a judge at this year’s FBA Moot Court Competition. Participating in the finals and securing a victory is truly one of the high points of my life. As Justice Hugo Black once said, “It is the paradox of life that the way to miss pleasure is to seek it first. The very first condition of lasting happiness is that a life should be full of purpose, aiming at something outside of self”. To me becoming an attorney satisfies that condition precedent.
I am honored to have met you and your lovely wife along this journey. I hope to see you again next year in the championship round.
Hannah Cottrill, MBA
